Unparalleled Service
I had a Marantz 2230B that had sentimental value but wasn’t working. After looking at it taking up space in my garage for years, I finally started to dig into it. Some basic cleaning and a few minor repairs got it going but it still had issues and was going to take more skills than I have and more time than I could devote. Fortunately, I found Ben.
After speaking with Ben on the phone, his passion for vintage electronics really came through, he quoted me a very reasonable price and told me about his warranty. I knew Ben was the guy for the job and arranged to bring him the 2230B.
He got the work completed in the timeframe he estimated, I picked up the receiver and was blown away by the difference in the power, sound and overall appearance of the unit since he also took the time to address a minor but noticeable cosmetic issue with the silver face.
But that’s not the end of the story. Unfortunately the 2230B had other plans and started to randomly stop working. I contacted Ben about it and true to his word, without hesitation he was on the job. First he came to my home to see and hear what was happening. He took the receiver back to his shop to work on it but didn’t leave me w/out music. Instead, Ben loaned me a beautiful vintage Sansui receiver that was his grandfather’s personal system. He wanted to take his time to address my Marantz reliability issue and didn’t want me to suffer in silence.
The bottom line:
It sounds amazing. Ben spent a ton of time, effort and money to address every possible problem with the 2230B. He went through it top to bottom, leaving no stone unturned. He loaned me a personal unit to keep me listening and when he was done with the Marantz he delivered it to me. I tried to give him an additional payment to offset his loss (he definitely put much more into this than I paid for) but he refused to take anything.
You can bet I’m taking all my vintage gear to Ben in the future.
